We have a work experience group at the CLC this week creating mulitmedia games to introduce Primary school pupils to the CLC. One of the students is good at art and wanted his hand drawn work to be included so I introduced him to the digimemo. Wow, he went away drew the chartacters who were going to act as quiz masters for his game and then came back to see how the digimemo had coped. The artwork was then cut up, taken into photoshop elements and coloured and placed on the background for his quiz slides. I have attached the examples for you to view. This took very little time, did not involve scanning which can be very temperamental and could now be done entirely by the student as he has now been shown what to do. I am going to get him to comment on the work tomorrow so I will let him have the final word…..
Hello there!
I am an apprentice (Work Experience student) at the HCLC, and I may be the first student to use the technology, Digi-Memo. I have recently used this equipment to transfer a ink drawing I have done into the digit world of a software program. How was it done? Easy!
I draw the pictures on an equipment in the form of a sketch book, which is then connected to the computer to be coloured and used. I believe it is definitely easier and faster than drawing in the computer.
Use it.
You might be surprised.

It’s always nice to see a pupil’s eyes light up … alas, sometimes none too often. However, it happened today, when a year 8 boy was introduced to the DigiMemo at the end of a lesson. He was delighted to see his work appear on the screen, and exclaimed that he will be back on Monday lunchtime to have another go! He is planning on completing some cartoon drawings, which we will colour using PhotoShop and then animate using CrazyTalk. I hope he maintains his enthusiasm!
On Friday my colleague, Chris, delivered training on the Digimemos for two teachers that are on the Haringey Transformation Teachers Programme. Talk about ideas….. up until now the majority of the participants on our Digimemo research project have been consultants and strategy staff plus 2 teachers from a speical school. I want to get Helen, one of the teachers from the Special School, to write about her experiences with the board and how she would like to see it used in her classroom but one of the latest teachers to receive a board is already converted. Please read the two posts,
to pick up her enthusiasm and also the comments made to the posts.
There are a number of blogs that already feature DigiMemos. This one is useful as it gives a clear idea of what the Memo does and how it can be used. In this blog, which has been commented on a number of times and so has the views of a number of people demonstrates the use of the digimemo more fully. For the more technically minded this blog explores the use of the memo but also looks at how keyboards work etc.

Haringey CLC is currently running a project involving the use of DigiMemos in both the educational setting with consultants, teachers and pupils and with administrators. This blog will represent the views of the participants, recording the strengths and weaknesses of the kit within their own job roles. It is hoped that the posts from this blog with inform teachers about their possible uses/benefits.
